Comments:
Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma (SMZL) - Morphology: In SMZL, the tumor is centered around the white pulp which shows replacement of preexisting lymphoid follicles by micronodular tumoral infiltrates. One such nodule is shown here. The typical biphasic pattern consisting of small darker lymphocytes in the center merging with pale-staining cells in the marginal zone is not apparent here. This follicle has a monomorphic appearance and is composed entirely of pale-staining cells with marginal zone differentiation. A residual germinal center is present.
