Cutaneous Follicle Center Lymphoma : Morphology

Morphology: The image shows two neoplastic follicles with monotonous appearance, poorly-formed mantle zones, and only rare tingible body macrophages.

The neoplastic lymphocytes are of follicle center origin and consist predominantly of medium to large centrocytes (large cleaved cells) and a few centroblasts. Centrocytes have angulated, cleaved, or folded nuclei, inconspicuous nucleoli, and scant cytoplasm. They are embedded in CD21+, CD23+, CD35+ follicular dendritic cell meshwork.

A small number of centroblasts with round or oval vesicular nuclei and one to three prominent nucleoli are usually present. Reactive T-cells surround the periphery of the follicles.
