Comments:
Morphology: The neoplastic lymphocytes in primary cutaneous follicle center lymphoma show diffuse growth pattern (most common; 64% of cases) or follicular and diffuse or predominantly follicular pattern (least common; shown here).

The neoplastic follicles have the following features:

  • closely spaced together
  • irregular, ill-defined borders
  • poorly-formed or absent mantle zones
  • monotonous appearance; no differentiation into polarized light and dark zones
  • few or no tingible body macrophages
  • lower proliferation rate than reactive germinal centers
