Cutaneous Follicle Center Lymphoma : Morphology

Morphology: The skin biopsies in primary cutaneous follicle center lymphomas show a dense lymphocytic infiltrate in the dermis, frequently extending into the subcutaneous tissues. Epidermis is spared (grenz zone). The growth pattern can be diffuse (most common; 64% of cases) or diffuse and follicular, or predominantly follicular. The neoplastic lymphocytes may also show perivascular and periadnexal distribution.

Cases with follicular architecture tend to involve the head or neck region, whereas diffuse growth is usually seen in lesions involving the trunk. Grading is not done and there is no clinical significance associated with different growth patterns.
