Cutaneous Follicle Center Lymphoma : Introduction

Introduction: Primary cutaneous follicle-center lymphoma (PCFCL) is a low-grade B-cell lymphoma that is limited to skin at presentation (no systemic or nodal involvement). It comprises 10% of all cutaneous lymphomas and about 50% of primary cutaneous B-cell lymphomas. The neoplastic lymphocytes are of follicle center origin and resemble centrocytes and centroblasts. They are arranged in a follicular and/or diffuse growth pattern. The vast majority of cases have excellent prognosis, except the rare cases (5%) that occur on legs which behave aggressively.

Cutaneous B-cell lymphomas composed of monotonous sheets of centroblasts or immunoblasts are excluded and classified as primary cutaneous diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, leg type, irrespective of the site.
