Eosinophilic granular bodies in a pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma. They are surrounded by spindle mesenchymal-like cells in a storiform pattern. Rosenthal fibers may also be present. There usually is increased intercellular reticulin deposition within the tumor. Some cases of pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma are admixed with infantile ganglioglioma or contain intratumoral ganglion cells.
