Comments:
Gross specimen of a thymoma with an intact capsule - a feature seen in about 80% of cases. The capsule may be breached in about 20% of cases with invasion of contiguous structures. The cut surface of thymomas is usualy solid, yellowish-gray to pink-tan, with a multilobulated appearance. Some cases can undergo extensive cystic changes, necrosis, and hemorrhage (see cut surface of this tumor in the next image).
