Complete Hydatidiform Mole : Cisterns

Comments:
A large distended villus containing a cistern and lined by attenuated trophoblast in a complete mole. Most complete moles are diploid (46,XX; 46,XY). The nuclei of trophoblastic cells in complete moles contain only paternal DNA whereas the cytoplasm is maternally derived. Occasional cases are triploid or even tetraploid.
