Most cases of small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) and squamous cell carcinoma of lung arise centrally near major bronchi. Only about 5% of cases of SCLC are located peripherally. In contrast, majority of adenocarcinomas of lung arise peripherally. The image shows SCLC on the lower right and bronchial cartilage on the upper left.
