Comments:
The histologic classification includes epithelial (~50%), mixed epithelial-mesenchymal (~45%), and anaplastic (undifferentiated) variants. The epithelial type consists of fetal hepatocytes, embryonic hepatocytes, or both. Fetal epithelial-type hepatoblastomas (as seen here) grow in cords of small hepatocytes that resemble adult liver cells. Mitoses are rare. The purely fetal type has the best prognosis.
