Myocardial Infarction : 1 day old

Comments:
The image shows pallor of necrotic cardiac myocytes (myocytolysis) in the left half of the image. The infarct is about a day old. Disruption of the sarcolemma results in accumulation of salt and water within the myocytes causing pallor.
