Comments:
Tubular carcinoma must be distinguished from sclerosing adenosis (SA). SA consists of whorled glands and tubules in a lobulocentric pattern. Tubular carcinoma lacks this pattern. The glands in SA are compact, elongated or compressed. They usually lack the widely open lumens of tubular carcinoma. The glands of SA are surrounded by spindled myoepithelium which can be stained with nuclear p63 protein. Tubular carcinoma lacks myoepithelial layer.
