Comments:
Pleomorphic adenomas (PA) involve the parotid gland in almost 80% of cases. About 10% of PA occur in the submandibular gland and another 10% involve minor salivary glands. PA involving the superficial lobe of the parotid gland (almost 75% of parotid tumors) present as slow-growing painless mass in front of or behind the ear. This image shows a well-circumscribed yellow-tan tumor in the parotid gland surrounded by unremarkable salivary parenchyma.

PA involving minor salivary gland can be seen in palate, buccal mucosa, upper lip, nasal septum, and sinonasal tract. The symptoms include dysphagia, dyspnea, chewing difficulties, hoarseness, and epistaxis depending upon the location.
