Metaplastic meningiomas are Grade I meningiomas that, as the name implies, contain focal mesenchymal differentiation (bone, cartilage, adipose or xanthomatous change). This picture illustrates predominantly central areas of xanthomatous differentiation accompanied by syncytia of meningothelial cells.
