Dysgerminomas, like seminomas, show chromosome 12p gains in the form of isochromosome 12p. About 25-50% of dysgerminomas have point mutations in c-kit gene which encodes for KIT a tyrosine kinase receptor. The mutations are localized to exon 17, codon 816.
