Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma : Molecular Pathology

Molecular Pathology: Dedifferentiated liposarcomas (DLPS) arise by progression of an atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma (ALT/WDL) over a prolonged period of time. Both tumors commonly show giant marker or ring chromosomes with amplified sequences from 12q13-15 region containing several genes implicated in tumorigenesis. The genetic alterations are more complex in DLPS than ALT/WDL. These changes are discussed further in the next few images.
