Comments:
Gross Pathology: Atypical lipomatous tumor/Well-differentiated liposarcomas (ALT/WDL) are large, multilobulated masses that are well-circusmcribed but not encapsulated. The tumors often reach massive proportions, especially when located in the retroperitoneum, before they are discovered. The size ranges from 5 cm to > 40 cm.

The ALT/WDL shown in this photograph measured approx. 11 cm and was removed from the retroperitoneum. Image courtesy of: Dr. Ibrahim Zardawi; used with permission.
