Liposarcoma : Introduction
Introduction: Liposarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma of adults, accounting for 15%-25% of all sarcomas. It is quite rare in children and adolescents but has been documented in that age group. Several subtypes have been recognized which differ from one another in morphology, molecular pathogenesis, clinical behavior and prognosis. The image shows a large, well-differentiated liposarcoma that was resected from the retroperitoneum of an adult. The tumor measures approx. 30 cm in greatest dimension.
