Myxolipoma

Lipoma Variants - Myxolipoma: This variant of lipoma shows extensive myxoid change. Some of these tumors probably are sparsely cellular spindle cell lipomas with myxoid stroma. When the vascular component is prominent, the term vascular myxolipoma or angiomyxolipoma has been used. These are descriptive terms and don't represent a separate diagnostic category of lipomas.

Myxolipomas can resemble myxomas and myxoid liposarcomas. The presence of transitional areas between mature fat and myxoid areas favors myxolipoma. The diagnosis of myxoid liposarcoma is supported by the presence of plexiform capillary network and lipoblasts.
