Lipoma Variants - Fibrolipoma: The gross and microscopic appearance of lipomas can be altered by the presence of other mesenchymal elements besides mature fat. One of the commonest variants is a fibrolipoma which contains fibrous connective tissue as an integral component of the tumor. This gross specimen photograph shows delicate, pink-tan fibrous bands on the cut surface.
