Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma : Mediastinum

The image shows embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma that arose in the mediastinum. The tumor is composed predominantly of primitive ovoid or polygonal cells arranged in solid sheets. Only rare rhabdomyoblasts were seen. The diagnosis was confirmed by immunohistochemistry (strong immunoreactivity for desmin and muscle-specific actin)
