Comments:
The main agent responsible for Lyme disease in North America is Borrelia burgdorferi which is transmitted by the bite of an infected tick belonging to the genus Ixodes. High-power view of this synovial biopsy shows chronic inflammatory infiltrate composed mainly of lymphocytes and a few histiocytes and neutrophils.
