Brown Pigment Gallstones - Introduction: Brown gallstones usually form in infected or obstructed bile ducts and sometimes within the gallbladder. In addition to calcium bilirubinate, they contain bacterial degradation products of biliary lipids, and small amounts of cholesterol (higher amounts than in black pigment stones).
