Comments:
As in hepatocellular adenoma, the cell plates in focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) retain the normal reticulin framework but are slightly thickened (2-3 cell layers). The hepatocytes are relatively uniform with variable cytoplasmic glycogen. The fibrovascular stroma in FNH typically contains a lymphocytic infiltrate with occasional neutrophils and/or eosinophils, which are more common around bile ductular structures. Granulomas are rare.
