Microscopic Features: The fibrous stroma at the periphery of the nodules in focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) characteristically contains a variable number of bile ductular structures. There are no well-formed portal tracts. CK7 and CK19 immunostaining can be used to highlight these bile ductular proliferations, which distinguish FNH from hepatocellular adenoma.
