Chronic hepatitis B infection often results in cirrhosis with nodules of damaged and regenerating hepatocytes separated by fibrous bands containing chronic inflammatory cell infiltrates and a ductular reaction. Nodules < 3 mm, as seen here, are designated micronodular cirrhosis while those > 3 mm are macronodular.
