Comments:
Epithelioid Variant of Pleomorphic Liposarcoma (PLS): About 25% of PLS cases have numerous giant pleomorphic lipoblasts associated with small round, vacuolated mononuclear cells with an epithelioid appearance. These cases resemble poorly differentiated carcinomas, renal cell carcinoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, or melanoma. Immunostains for keratin, actin, desmin, and S-100 protein may be focally positive. MDM2 and CDK4 are negative. The diagnosis rests on correct identification of pleomorphic lipoblasts.
