Comments:
Another image of sarcomatoid carcinoma of gallbladder. A cluster of malignant glands is present within a high-grade spindle cell sarcoma. See higher magnification in the next image.

Some cases have numerous osteoclast-type giant cells. However, they occur less frequently in gallbladder as compared to undifferentiated carcinomas of bile ducts or pancreas. Other cases may show medullary or lymphoepithelioma-like pattern consisting of pushing borders, syncytial growth of tumor cells, large vesicular nuclei, prominent nucleoli, and lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate. Most sarcomatoid carcinomas of gallbladder are highly aggressive tumors, present at advanced stage, and have poor prognosis.
