Comments:
Microscopic Features: The nuclei are high-grade and show prominent nucleoli. The cytoplasm can be dense eosinophilic, granular, pale pink or clear. Intracytoplasmic mucin (seen here) as well as intraluminal mucin secretions may be present. Mucin may be inconspicuous and require special stains for demonstration. Some gallbladder carcinomas (especially those with intestinal phenotype) may have goblet cells, Paneth cells, and neuroendocrine cells.
