Chronic Calculous Cholecystitis: The histologic hallmarks of chronic calculous cholecystitis are: mononuclear inflammatory infiltrate in the lamina propria, fibrosis, and metaplastic changes in the mucosa. This low magnification view shows inflammatory infiltrate extending through the muscularis to subserosal tissues. There is considerable thickening of the wall due to inflammation and fibrosis. A few Rokitanksy-Aschoff sinuses are visible (more on those in subsequent images).
