Acute Calculous Cholecystitis - Microscopic Features: Acutely inflamed gallbladder mucosa with vascular congestion (upper right corner), neutrophilic infiltrate, and necrosis. The inflammation is confined to the mucosa in the early stages. In due course, there is transmural inflammation and necrosis with secondary acute vasculitis.
