Acute Calculous Cholecystitis - Macroscopic Features: The mucosal appearance, depending upon the severity of inflammation, can range from edema and mild congestion to extensive ulceration and necrosis. In this image, the mucosa appears inflamed, congested and shows patchy greenish-yellow exudate forming pseudomembranes over necrotic areas (pseudomembranous cholecystitis).
