Some pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (especially insulinomas) contain amyloid deposits which can be confirmed with Congo Red stain (apple-green birefringence under polarized light). The deposits are composed of islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) which can be detected with immunostains.
