MALT Lymphoma : Morphology
Image Description
MALT Lymphoma - Morphology: The neoplastic areas are composed of medium-sized marginal zone B-cells with moderate to abundant pale cytoplasm, slightly irregular medium-sized nuclei with dispersed chromatin, and inconspicuous nucleoli. They are often referred to as centrocyte-like due to their resemblance to germinal center centrocytes.
When the cytoplasm is scant, the neoplastic cells resemble small lymphocytes. In salivary gland MALT lymphomas, the lymphoid cells have appearance of monocytoid B-cells with copious pale-staining or clear cytoplasm.
