The ovarian tumors with predominantly surface growth and minimal/absent parenchymal invasion and intracystic growth are labeled Serous Surface Papillary Carcinomas. When the bulk of the tumor consists of extraovarian serous carcinoma with only focal (<0.5 cm) surface growth on the ovaries, it is considered primary peritoneal serous carcinoma with involvement of the ovaries.
