Image Description

High-grade papillary urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis. The papillary frond is lined by anaplastic tumor cells with enlarged hyperchromatic nuclei, prominent nucleoli, and brisk mitotic activity. In a typical case, the treatment generally consists of nephroureterectomy. Conservative approaches such as segmental resection are not favored given the high degree of multicentricity and the frequent presence of multifocal dysplasia.
