Papillary Cystadenoma of Rete Testis
Comments:
Introduction: The full spectrum of benign tumors of rete testis includes adenoma (closely packed tubules), cystadenoma (with a prominent cystic component), papillary cystadenoma (papillae projecting within cyst lumen; shown in this image), adenofibroma (tubules in copious fibromatous stroma), and sertoliform cystadenoma (solid tubules mimicking Sertoli cell tumor). Benign tumors of rete testis are rare and occur over a wide age range (2nd to 8th decades). Patients usually present with a palpable mass that is centered on testicular hilum. The gross appearance depends upon the tumor type and ranges from solid to solid and cystic to predominantly cystic.
