Note the lower intensity of staining in the benign atrophic glands on the left. The focus of prostate cancer on the right is strongly positive. PSMA expression has been found to be an independent predictor of tumor recurrence. Anti-PSMA dendritic cells have been developed and used as a novel therapeutic modality. Radioisotopes conjugated to anti-PSMA antibodies have been used for diagnostic imaging given the specificity of PSMA for prostate cancer.
