Microscopic Features: Mesenchymal chondrosarcomas have a biphasic appearance consisting of highly cellular sheets of small, undifferentiated round, oval or spindle cells (seen here on the right) admixed with islands of hyaline cartilage. The relative proportion of the two components varies from case to case. Cartilaginous areas may be sharply demarcated or gradually merge with the round cell areas.
