Adult Granulosa Cell Tumor : Bizarre Nuclei

Comments:
Usually, adult granulosa cell tumors (GCT) have uniform nuclei that are pale-staining, angular to oval in shape, with longitudinal grooves and folds. In about 2% of cases, there are large bizarre hyperchromatic nuclei and multinucleated cells. The nuclear hyperchromasia appears degenerative. Mitotic activity is not increased.

Besides atypical nuclei, other rare findings in adult GCTs include hepatoid differentiation and association with mucinous cystadenoma.
