Comments:
Cancer screening in Peutz-Jeghers syndrome patients is directed towards entire gastrointestinal tract, breast (in female patients) and gonads (both sexes). Colonoscopy and small bowel imaging can begin as early as age 8 years and repeated every 2 years. Any polyps found are removed by endoscopic polypectomy. Large, difficult to remove, or recurrent polyps are treated by surgery. Bowel resection is avoided as much as possible.

The image is from a sporadic Peutz-Jeghers polyp in a colon. Clusters of distorted glands are surrounded by fascicles of smooth muscle cells. Image courtesy of: @Patholwalker.
