Aneurysmal Bone Cyst : Prognosis

Prognosis: Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a benign tumor with an excellent prognosis. Treatment with curettage is followed by recurrences in 20-50% of cases; however, recurrences can also be managed conservatively. Some cases regress even after incomplete removal.

Rare cases of transformation of ABC into osteosarcoma have been documented. Post-radiation sarcomas have occurred in some ABCs that were treated with radiation therapy.
