Lipofibromatosis : Introduction

Introduction (continued from the previous image): Lipofibromatosis appears to be genetically heterogenous. A subset of lesions with morphologic resemblance to lipofibromatosis has been labeled lipofibromatosis-like neural tumor. It shows S-100 immunoreactivity and NTRK1 gene rearrangements. Lipofibromatosis also shows morphologic overlap with a subset of calcifying aponeurotic fibromas.

The image shows thick fasicles of bland fibroblastic cells infiltrating mature adipose tissue.
