Comments:
Paraneoplastic syndromes are seen more commonly in small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) than other histologic types. SCLC is capable of synthesizing a variety of neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine hormonal substances. The manifestations can include hyponatremia (due to inappropriate secretion of anti-diuretic hormone), Cushing syndrome, Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, limbic encephalopathy, and Carcinoid syndrome.

The image shows tumor cells arranged around several blood vessels forming perivascular pseudorosettes.
