Nuclear molding is evident in these tumors, though not always present to the degree seen in pulmonary small cell carcinomas. Immunohistochemical expression of neuroendocrine markers may be retained, but electron microscopy might be necessary to confirm neuroendocrine origin in poorly differentiated tumors.
