Epidemiology: Type A thymoma is the least common subtype and accounts for 10%-12% of all thymomas. The mean age at presentation is around 65 years which is slightly older than that for all thymomas.

Thymomas are large, multilobulated tumors. Note the fibrous septae dividing the tumor into variably-sized lobules.
