Common Warts (Verruca vulgaris): The upper layers of epidermis show large cells with vacuolated cytoplasm and pyknotic nuclei (koilocytosis). Koilocytes are more prominent in genital warts.

Koilocytosis is the result of a protein capable of disrupting cytokeratin network that is encoded by the early region E4 of HPV genome.
