Adrenal Histology

Comments:
The three layers of the adrenal cortex and the adrenal medulla can be seen in this low power view. Medulla is in the center of the gland and surrounds the blood vessels near the center of the image. The combined weight of both adrenal glands in healthy adults is approximately 8g. The thickness of the normal adrenal cortex is 1mm (0.7-1.3 mm). Image copyright: pathorama.ch.
