Comments:
This MRI scan of the brain is from a 16 y/o female who presented with absence seizures of several months' duration. The lateral aspect of the right temporal lobe shows a 2.9 cm mass with solid and cystic components. With contrast, there is vivid enhancement of the solid component and no enhancement of the cystic area. Craniotomy followed by resection of the mass proved it to be a pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma. Case produced with permission, courtesy of Dr. Frank Gaillard. Radiopaedia. Complete case is here.
