Comments:
Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is the most common form of lupus and consists of localized and generalized variants. There is a strong female predilection (F:M=2:1). It is most common between the ages of 30 yrs. to 50 yrs. with a peak incidence in the late thirties. Children are rarely affected.

This photograph shows typical erythematous and scaly plaques of DLE on the face of a female patient.
